Dr. Armaghan Ghassemi is a well-respected Clinical and Forensic Psychologist with over 35 years of experience. Dr. Ghassemi graduated with a Master of Science Degree (M.S.) in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University, and earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree (Ph. D.) in Clinical Psychology from California Graduate School of Psychology. Dr. Ghassemi is a Licensed Psychologist (PSY 23969) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFC 29528).
Dr. Ghassemi has worked in a variety of settings including, Inpatient Hospitals, Juvenile Court, Dept. of Drug and Alcohol Services, and Adult and Juvenile Custody while maintaining a full time private practice. Dr. Ghassemi is multicultural and multi-lingual (English, French and Farsi), and she has lived in the United States, France, Switzerland and Iran. As an immigrant living in different countries, she brings into her practice the knowledge of multicultural issues in human behavior and thought.
As a psychologist, Dr. Ghassemi provides a unique psychotherapy approach to treat a wide variety of conditions for both adolescents and adults suffering from Depression, Anxiety, Substance Misuse, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Trauma Recovery, Interpersonal issues, Grief, Self-confidence/Personal Growth, Couples Relationship and Communication Skills.
Dr. Ghassemi also has extensive experiences in conducting Psychological and Forensic assessment, in addition to Neuropsychological testing for a variety of conditions such as Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and provides thorough evaluations and well-written reports.
Having worked for over 30 years in Criminal Justice Services, Dr. Ghassemi has conducted forensic evaluations in numerous civil litigation matters and has served as an expert witness in multiple cases.
For several years, Dr. Ghassemi has provided clinical supervision to Doctoral level psychology interns at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
